Recently I went through all of my effects, titles, transitions, and generators in Final Cut Pro and realized I had so many I never used, sitting in the wrong folders and named terribly. So I organized and renamed them, and since there aren't many videos covering this, here's how to do it.
Where your effects actually live
You'll be working in two places in Finder. First, Home → Movies → Motion Templates, this is where your downloaded effects, titles, transitions, and generators live. Second, Final Cut Pro → Content Packages, and oddly there are two folders in there (not totally sure why they're separated). You may also have some downloaded ones hiding as Applications.
Rename, reorganize, delete
From there, go through and rename anything with a bad name, move things into folders that actually make sense, and delete the stuff you never use. Once you change or delete anything, it'll update in your effects browser the next time you open Final Cut Pro. It's a little tedious, but a clean, well-named effects browser makes finding what you need so much faster.
